A place where I can safely vent my thoughts!

I went to New York Comic Con today...or I guess that would be yesterday...and had a total blast. Everybody was nice, some of the costumes were really awesome, and people actually knew my cousin Tim. I got FMA zipper pulls, searched unsuccessfully for either something Mello (why is it so hard to find Mello stuff? He is teh smex), Envy, or one of those L PVC figures, and got my picture with Cloud and Boba Fett. Apart from that one panel I went to which had THAT GUY (and you all know what I'm talking about) in it, it was a very nice time.

So I came home, full of wonderful happy post-con euphoria, and go online to check my home page, Anime News Network.
Where I immediately find a bunch of people ranting about how obnoxious anime fans are, how they never go to cons anymore because they can't stand the under-eighteen-year-olds, and how everybody hates each other and people who wear cat ears in college are stupid and immature.

The very adorable hat with cat ears I just bought (and, may I add, that several mature, productive-member-of-society-looking people complemented me on) seems to droop its cute little ears. And a small, happy part of me dies.

Now I realize, I just went to Comic Con. Comic book fans may be more mature than anime fans, since they tend to be older. I don't know. But I went to Anime North last year, am trying to go to Anime Boston this year, and have been to NohCon (that's the name, right?) twice (counting when we got snowed out), and I have several things I feel the need to say.

First of all: Thirteen-and-fourteen-year-olds are going to be loud, obnoxious, and excited. They are going to carry around yaoi paddles, squee a lot, wear Naruto t-shirts and have shouting contests (hopefully outside). When you were thirteen, you did it too. They don't mean you any harm, they're just wrapped up in their own business. Kids tend to be a little self-centered.

Second: When I went to Anime North last year, I ran into NONE of these problems. There was a shouting parade, but it was outside and out of everybody's way. Nobody was forcefully glomping cosplayers or making snide remarks about how much dubs suck. If people wanted to take pictures, they asked first. And, cheesy as it may sound, I felt a sense of community. Not the hi-I-wanna-be-your-friend kind of community, but a sense that we were all here enjoying doing weird things that the rest of society frowns upon, not hurting anybody, and glorifying in our fandom. A sense that here, at least, we could go "OMG LIEK ITS FINAL FANTASY!!!!!111!!!1!1!!" and be understood. There is something amazing, watching an anime that you've seen and loved in a room with hundreds of other people and having them all react as you do, as if verifying your reasons for loving the show. There is something amazing about dancing to DDR music outside with teenagers you do not know. Maybe other cons aren't run as well, which means that it is a problem with the organizations, not the fans.

Third: Anime News Network is a site for people who LIKE ANIME (hence the name). I don't want to hear you people bitching about how you hate anime fans, without a word about how much you like anime, and presumably spending time with at least some friends who also like anime. If you hate the community that much, GET OFF THE SITE. IT'S A COMMUNITY TOO. Go watch your Ranma 1/2 VHS and lament about the old days. If you don't like going to cons, then just don't go. Don't whine about how you would go to cons if it weren't for the teenyboppers.

Because not all anime fans are evil and paragons of society. Most of them aren't, in fact. And the some of them that may be shouldn't discourage you. Got it? Good. I'm going to bed now, because it's nearly two in the morning am I'm about ready to drop.

If i go to Anime Boston, they better have an Envy statue. If they have that, I can settle for Mello fanart.

Well, naming a prize and keeping it as my friend sounds like something I would do. But... why would you give away Steve? Why not give away one of the other ones?? Now i'm sad cuz of Steve.. =[

Vic was amazing. I have a picture of me and him on Facebook somewhere lol. I was sooo excited. I don't think I've ever been so excited in my life XD. Actually, I didn't use a wig.. I just used my own hair because I thought it'd be long enough. It woulda turned out better if I would have had a few HOURS to prepare it. All i had was liek 30 minutes in our hotel room to gel and spray and AHHH it was not enough time at ALL!

Actually, Death Note is on my list of "animes to watch." My friend lent me the dvds [which are currently buried under my bed somewhere.. whoops! *anime sweat drop*] but i haven't watched them. I love L, he's my favorite. People tell me that I look like Misa a lot... cuz I wear pigtails [i used to wear them to work sometimes too] and that MAKES ME MAD. Cuz Misa pisses me OFF.

argh!! Curses to you for being old enough to get into Yaoi North!!! It's not fair!!! I am such a crazy yaoi fangirl. My first fangirl obsession in general tho... was Kei from Pretear [an anime that no one's ever seen. it's like snow white except with HOT MEN instead of dwarves]. Kei is like this campy little nerd, but I love him.

My current fangirl obsession tho is Vexen from KH... I could talk forever about him. gahhh *squee* okay... I'm having a minor fangirl-fit here... XDDD *squeallllling.* I also love Link from Zelda *SQUEE* and Sephiroth.... [having fit XD]

I have always played video games, i suppose... but i think my first fangirl obsession with a video game character was Samus from Metroid [a girl, i know]. And now... I'm beast at Metroid and i know all these ridiculous hacks and cheats and... yeah..

I go into fangirl fits each time i put the game in my ps2.. cuz i KNOW what's awaiting me.. HOT. MEN.

I have a Keyblade ^-^ my friends made it for me! It's silver and gold, so it's original, it's not like the ones in the game =(

I had to give him away because he was the only one left in the back...we go through the money bears really fast. For some reason the prizes at Ring Toss have gotten all messed up lately, like we seem to be putting up just any old thing (like smallish teddy bears and some of the jumbo prizes from the other games) just to create the IMPENETRABLE WALL OF PRIZES needed to prevent customers from winning (also meaning of course that the poor operator has to listen to customers bitching about how "all the animals are in the way" all day long.
I only have ten more days left. I have to keep thinking about money.

L is adorable. I have an L cell phone charm of him sitting in that weird way of his. I seem to be the only person I know who actually doesn't mind Misa (I think she's rather sweet). I wore my hair like her the other day, but nobody noticed ^^.

Really? You aren't eighteen yet? Well, I do remember that all my workmates were younger than me last year, or at least most of them...its so cute this year hearing everybody talk about high school when I just came back from my first year of college. Makes me glad I don't have to deal with that crap anymore. My first fangirl obsession...well this is embarrassing, but it was probably Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh! I was thirteen, so I guess I have that as my excuse. I forget how I got into yaoi, it just kinda happened...I organize my manga in order of increasing yaoi content. Not that I have that much actual real yaoi. I used to have Gravitation, but the story was really weird and I didn't like the art, so I gave it away. I do have a few manga though, complete with sex scenes featuring conveniently placed shining rays of light.

Um...which one is Vexen? *is ashamed to admit she can never keep the members of Organization XIII straight* Do you know about the new KH games they're making? My friend and I read the plot line for one of them (the one that's a fraction, I think) and we both agreed it sounded like really bad fanfiction. Link is pretty cute. I've played both Zelda games for the N64-they were my starting point for video games. Well, actually we started with Pokemon Snap, but let's not talk about that. I always had such a hard time with the boss battles, and I had to have my friend Becky (who owned that games and system) do them for me until I gathered up enough hearts. The evil zombies in Ocarina of Time were creepy. ^^

One of those ugly super-jumbo prizes was in the way when I was there the other day. I was getting very internally-angry about it, because I know that we CAN'T move the prizes. I actually made a good sum of money this year... babysitting. I'm not really the babysitting TYPE, but I'm okay as long as they're little video-game obsessed boys.

*Shakes fist at you!!* Hush about high school! i HATE high school! I just wish I was in college already. Classes are such a breeze. I don't study for anything ever. I go to Nichols, but idk if you've heard of it. It's by the zoo.

Wowowowww Bakura!??? He's so cuuute!! My fangirl obsession from Yu-Gi-Oh is Marik. I still love himmmmmhimhimm!!! He actually looks a little bit like Bakura, except he has a little darker skin and purple eyes [link]

^ :XD: I found a picture of them together!!! ^

I think... [this is gonna sound pervy lol] I think I've always had a sort of "wild side" when it came to yaoi and sex and manga and stuff. The first complete series of manga that I had [and still have] is Sailor Moon. I stole them all from my friends because she wasn't taking care of them. I had always watched the show, but onc I read the manga, I was like O_O. Kissing, upskirts, and boobs on like EVERY. OTHER. PAGE. It didn't phase me much. But I think my first actual yaoi experience was on youtube... I was just perusing through some anime AMVs... and I was like "WOAHHH BOYS KISSING!!!"

I'm not a fan of the Gravitation art either. It was a series I never got into much, but I do love the opening song for the anime. It's called Super Drive, and it's sung by this whacky little Japanese guy called Yosuke Sakanoue. He's ADORABLE. But there's also a piano version of the song that i REALLY love. I can even play it myself ^0^

Conveniently placed shining rays of light are a PAIN :XD:. There were a TON in the MamoruXUsagi scenes [pages, i guess] of Sailor Moon. I kinda kept asking myself... "If it's night and they're having sex... WHY ARE THERE RAYS OF LIGHT AND RANDOM LITTLE LENS FLARES EVERYWHERE??!?!???"

Hehehe... Vexen... You wouldn't know much of him if you didn't play Chain of Memories, or RE:Chain of Memories. He's this whacky, nerdy scientist who creates a Riku replica. The replica is trained to think it is the REAL Riku, so naturally, it goes after the real Riku and tries to kill him. Vexen ends up leading a dismal death [courtesy Axel. Yes, I said Axel. His fellow Org member kills him. I cried.] after he almost spills important information to Sora about the Organization. He is the first member to die... and he's most often paired with Marluxia [the flower guy with pink hair who's really smexxxxxy] in a yaoi setting. Vexen's BEAUTIFUL face is featured on my lovely home-made icon [since i can't find any cute ones of him online ANYWHERE].

358/2 DAYS is set between KH1 and KH2. It's hopefully going to reveal more of Axel and Roxas' relationship with each other. It also sheds light on the 14th member of the Organization, Xion. She's created by Vexen, and she was supposed to be a Sora-replica. She kinda pisses me off, because I feel like they're just trying too hard to fit the puzzle pieces together here. But hopefully there will be some HOT Vexen scenes. I know there are a LOT of AxelXRoxas scenes... meheheee *fangirl fit!!*

Link is adorable lol. I'm not very good at the N-64 Zelda games [I feel like a loser Zelda-fan now =(]. I'm beast at the Gameboy and DS ones though... :XD:. I hate the Zombies [called Stalfos, if I'm correct. At least.. Stalfos are the skeleton thingies]. THE BOSSES ARE SO HARD IN OCARINA OF TIME!!! I can never beat them. So, have you ever heard of Metroid??

POKEMON SNAP IS THE MOST AMAZING GAME EVER CREATED :XD::XD::XD::XD: It's actually a game that I WISH I had!!!!

So, since you are in college... like... what are you gonna do when you graduate?? I'm still not sure what I wanna be...

OMG have you ever seen Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series? If you haven't, you totally should. It consistently makes my life. During the scene you linked the voiceover goes "Oh my God it's every fangirl's dream come true!" I saw the regular series up until part of the way through season 2, at which point I think I started wanting to sleep in on Saturday mornings or something.

Well, I know where the zoo is...I haven't been there since last summer, though. Are you a senior or a junior? Your classes get a LOT harder in college, trust me. Last year was the first year I really got stressed out about schoolwork and exams.

I remember liking the opening to Gravitation. I like most anime openings (the ones for FMA are AWESOME). You play piano? That's so cool! I play viola. Some of my friends play piano, and it just blows me away how they can play different notes with each hand. I would get so confused!

I actually don't mind shining rays of light...^^if they show all the anatomical stuff it makes me feel like I'm looking at porn, which sort of interferes with my fangirling. It's only a problem for me when it's really obvious, like "Okay, we can see every other part of his body, so why is there a random dot of nothingness between his legs? Did the artist just forget?"

I didn't play Chain of Memories because I have to use my friends to play video games and neither of my providers have it. I have heard of Riku replica, though. Two Rikus sounds incredibly sexy to me. Awww, Axel? But he's so cute when he's like "but I'll miss you, Roxas!" AxelXRoxas is one of the few slash pairings I like. SoraXRiku and LightXL just make me giggle. And he has red hair. I like red hair.

Yeah, 358/2 DAYS is the one we looked at. Xion sounds like a huge Mary Sue to me. At least she dies before the end of the game. And I DO wanna see more AxelXRoxas. As long as I get to kill things in real time battle mode (preferably Heartless or Nobodies) and see Disney characters, I'll be happy.

I've never heard of Metroid. What's it about? Are the battle's turn-based? I dislike turn-based battle systems, they render my suicide strategy of attack impossible. And the graphics aren't as pretty. I was sooo bad at Pokemon Snap the first time I played it. I kept taking pictures of like a Pokemon's tail or something and Dr. Oak would be all like "Hmm, it doesn't look like very much of the Pokemon is in the picture" and I'd be all like "Well, YOU go out and take pictures of them, you creepy old child molester!" And we'd always make fun of how he liked it when the Pokemon was in pain.

Oh gosh, I don't know what I'm gonna do when I graduate. I don't even know what I'm gonna do next summer! I'm thinking of applying for the Disney College program my senior year, though, so I can do it right after graduation if I get in. It's a paid internship where you get to work in the Disney World or Disneyland (and God knows I have experience working in theme parks) and take classes, and it opens up a lot of opportunities. Not that I want to work in theme parks the rest of my life, but I love Disney and it would be a nice thing to do right after I graduate so I don't have to think about the real world right away. And then I'll probably go back to school for animation the next year. It would be really cool to work at Pixar. I would just die to be able to do that. I'm going to Japan junior year, though, and I'm also getting into biology, so who knows what I'll decide when the time comes. I tend to jump into things headfirst and then get bored, but I think working in animation would fit with my long-running passions. I constantly tell myself that I'm only eighteen, I don't have to have the rest of my life all planned out^^.

:iconv-e-x-e-n:
I have seen bits and pieces of Yu-Gi-Oh! the Abridged Series. I laughed my ass off. I remember always missing episodes of the original series though, so I would always get so mad at myself because I couldn't even remember to turn on the TV. I'm not sure which part it was, but my favorite part of Yu-Gi-Oh! was the part with Marik in it, when he was evil. I like evil Marik

Well, I'm only a junior this year [get me outta there, plz], and [surprisingly] today I'm doing all my summer work. The only reason I'm doing it though, is because boyfriend is at work all day [he is usually at work, but today I feel inspired to get something done]. The only thing I'm worried about in college is not knowing how to study. I took one AP class last year [European History], and I did okay on the exam [4]. But this year I'm taking all APs, and being the lazy person that I am, well... let's just say I'm not really looking forward to it. I do NOT do homework whatsoever [unless it's something like an essay or a paper or something large-ish like that], so I'm not sure how that will play out in college. People have told me that "homework is for your own benefit" in college, but who knows? I guess I'll just have to wait and see [if I even survive the torture of my fellow classmates these next two years at Nichols].

Actually, [feels bad about bragging] I play piano, clarinet, guitar, alto sax, and tenor sax. All of these I just kinda picked up and was like "hello, instrument!! I'm going to play you now!" And so I'm in the jazz band and the regular orchestra. But I only play clarinet and tenor sax at school. The rest is kinda for fun. Wow, lol. I am a BAND GEEK.

Hentai FTW!! Jk. :XD:. Well, I guess I just wish that they'd cover it up with something else, like a blanket or a sheet, or another person's leg or something. Because [at least in Sailor Moon] the only "suggestive" scenes were ones that had Darien and Serena [I mean, Mamoru and Usagi] in them. So like, it was stupid to put shining lens flares when they could have moved one of their bodies over just a tiny tad!!

Well, the original Chain of Memories was released for Gameboy Advance [like wtf, you don't release a game as important as that for a GBA!!!]. Then, KHRE:COM was released for PS2, but it's only in Japanese. You can only buy it [I think] if you buy it together with the KHII Final Mix+ game. FM+ has enlish voice actors and Japanese subtitles [and if you can read and understand any Japanese, you'll see that the subtitles and voice bits don't match up at ALL], but RE:COM is ALL in Japanese subs and dubs. I can read [most] Japanese, but I still can't understand it. There is also Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, which hasn't been release yet.

Here's the chronological order of all the games:
KH: Birth by Sleep
Kingdom Hearts
KH: Chain of Memories [feature Sora]
KH: 358/2 DAYS [features Roxas]
Kingdom Hearts II

There's rumored to be a Kingdom Hearts III coming out, but nobody is sure when. They're using the excuse that "square enix needs to take time to smooth out their FFXXIII stuff" [or whatever the heck number of FF their on now].

In Chain of Memories, they're all still kids, so the Riku Replica looks like Riku from KH1. Which I don't like. I like KH2 Riku better. :XD:. I am a FAN of Akuroku slash. Gosh, I'm so creepy lol. It's the BEST SCENE of Akuroku when Axel says that he'll miss Roxas. *fangirl squeallll!!*

Metroid is about this girl named Samus. She gets adopted by the Chozo [these ancient bird-like creatures] after her parents are killed [or something, no one really knows what happened, but the new Metroid game {Metroid: Other M} is supposed to reveal a lot]. The battles aren't turn based, you have a beam cannon attached to your hand, and you go around blasting Space Pirates and other various creatures. The graphics in Metroid Prime[1, 2 and 3] are simply stunning. 1 and 2 were released for GameCube, and 3 is for Wii. I loved all of them, and I constantly play them :XD: [definitely worth getting if one of your providers has a Wii].

I love professor Oak!! He's a creep!! But he kinda annoys me sometimes cuz he likes to talk a LOT. Yeah, Pokemon snap would get on my nerves, because I'm not good enough with aiming lol.

We ALL wanna work at theme parks the rest of our lives!! I had a dream about Fantasy Island last night. The setup was all weird. Skatterball was adjacent to the ring toss, actually they were joined together. And Gerald was working in the Skatterball, and me and you were in the Ring Toss, and then Jen came and yelled at us because there wasn't supposed to be two people in the game, but she ASSIGNED us there, so I started crying. Then I woke up. Lolz.

I love Disney, too. I would work there if I could. It'd be so fun. I'm into animation, but only at computer animation. I can't draw stuff myself and animate it. You're so lucky to go to Japan. I've only ever been to Croatia, and that was just because my family lives there. I love Biology, I get to take AP this year. I'm not 100% sure, but I know that I need to do something with technology in my life, and especially video games [boyfriend says I should design them, but I'm not exactly up to par when it comes to designing. I like to animate plain stuff first]. I don't have anything planned out! I think I like it that way, cuz I'm kind of a spontaneous person like that ^0^
